PCB Design Process

PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is a circuit board that is an important part of the electronic system. A PCB is a board that connects each electrical component so that it can connect to each other and can work for a particular process. Pcb process is carried out in several systematic stages, each process must be done properly and thoroughly so as not to cause damage or errors that can interfere with the performance of each electronic component on the PCB. The first stage in pcb manufacturing is the PCB design stage. This design stage consists of several interconnected sets of activities. 


The following are common stages in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design process.

Creating Circuit Design

The early stage of PCB design is to create a circuit design. The circuit design process is done by paying attention to the components that will be applied in the PCB. The PCB design process can be done by looking at various references that will be useful to give an idea of the design of the circuit to be created.
The process of creating circuit design can be done by utilizing PCB schematic applications such as Development System Microcontroller ATMega8535 or other schematics. In the process of creating circuit design make sure to create a unique signator for the laying of each component such as C1, A1, B1, and so on so as to facilitate the placement and routing process in PCB documents.  

Checking Component Availability

The next step in the PCB design process is to check the availability of components. In this process a list of components is performed or commonly called the Bill of Material (BOM). Once a complete list of components is created the next step is to find the necessary components in order for the assembly to build the assembled PCB. 

The process of searching pcb components can be done online or offline. If possible offline then make sure the required stock can meet the required number of components. If pcb components are not available then can search for those PCB components online with the worldwide market so that it can meet the needs of components especially if you want to print PCBs on a large scale.

Testing Suite Functionality

The process of testing the functionality of the suite is done to ensure that the designed suite can work properly. This testing process is carried out using many tools according to the type of PCB built. Some types of tools used in pcb manufacturing include multimeter, led indicator, lcd and others. The testing process is done using various prototypes so that the testing can be described in real time. 

Schematic Footprint Verification

At the final stage in schematic creation is verifying the size of the footprint designed already according to the one described in the schematic document. BOM documents can be used as a reference to verify the footprint needed.

Such is the general process carried out in the PCB design process. Hopefully it can be useful in understanding the basic PCB design process.
